Pedagogy Behind Moodle

I took my first look at moodle today. For those of you who are not familiar with moodle, it’s a free, open source course management system. Think Blackboard designed by teachers and freely editable (assuming you are so inclined) to make the basic code work better for your particular context. It seems to have all the features of blackboard but more flexibility.

What particularly caught my attention was the statement of social constructivist pedagogical principles behind moodle. This certain describes my teaching philosophy. If you are interested in social constructivism, this is a great place to start.
