My students did fine on the first exam. They scored a bit lower than last year’s group (2 questions on a 30 question exam), but roughly the same as two years ago.

I’m not going to put much weight into this result since:
1. The previous exams were on the first three topics on the syllabus. This year’s exam covered one more.
2. The students are still learning this new approach which requires students to read the texts more than in past years and which requires metacognition, which probably takes time to get right.
